Advertising is a
very important factor in the successful operations of any company. For any
product to sell and become a hit, it has to be well promoted and marketed. In
the modern era, there is a need to establish professionals who can carry out
the task of publicizing a brand or a product in an exceptional way. A good
marketing company has a well-defined structure. Two of the most important
people in this business are creative and art directors and the difference between creative and art direction are discussed below.
Both the posts
are very much alike and both have good authority. Both creative and art
directors are crucial for the making of creative and attractive adverts for the
clients. They share the responsibility of planning a path for the composition
of the ad and the creativity involved in it. The main difference between creative and art direction is the level at which
both of them are working. Creative director is senior to art director and is
there to make big decisions regarding the company.
The art director
just makes smaller decisions for example, ‘should the actor wear an orange
shirt or a red one’? Or ‘should the background to the set be artificial or natural’?
He is there to work with the copywriters and generate ideas and plans and show
them to the creative director, who may later approve them. He is just a day to
day worker and is given the briefing on how to carry out his work. Seniority is
the main difference between creative and art direction.
On the other
hand, the creative director is the part and parcel of an advertising company.
He is responsible for making all the huge decisions and basically, the art
director is his subordinate. He has the authority to make bigger decisions and
also has the power to accept or reject the proposals given by the art director.
A creative director can lead multiple projects at the same time and is
responsible for maintaining a positive image of his company, which is the main difference between creative and art
direction.
Having discussed
the difference between creative and art
direction, now we shall discuss the requirements between the two posts.
Both creative as well as the art directors should be very creative and should
be good at planning and decision making. They should be good team workers and
leaders and should be competent enough to complete any task at hand with
minimal fuss. They should be able to design logos and emblems and should be
good enough to manage and complete the given tasks with ease and complement
each other.
A good marketing company is a blend of experience and talent and the workers in such a company should have great ties with each other. SALT branding has a good ammunition of solid and artistic art directors and creative directors who can hold their own at such a high level. The work done by them up to this point justifies their hardworking routine.
